Hello from beautiful Paris!! :) Since we've been traveling non-stop, taking care of our delicious boy in between, it's been a bit quiet in this space. But we've got so much exciting content lined up, I just can't wait to share it with you all! Starting with one of my favourite times of the year: Paris Fashion Week! We arrived in the city of love earlier this week, and I can't believe how gorgeous and sunny it's been over here. In other words, the perfect backdrop for the first big show of the week, featuring Maria Grazie Chiuri's Dior SS18 collection. And because it was one of the most memorable Dior experiences so far, here's a little run-through of the day, from getting ready before the show (curious to hear what you think about my beauty look!) to a very special backstage meet-up, and the stunning runway show of course. Here goes!
We woke up in the beautiful Hoxton hotel, and after our mandatory Parisian croissants and fresh fruits (yesss!), it was time to get ready for the show. I was so excited to try out a Fall-inspired beauty look, including smokey eyes, a deep red blush en pinky nude Rouge Dior lips. I added matching maroon nails (isn't Faby's Vertigo the perfect colour for Fall??), and went with a casual messy low bun to balance out the chic make-up, and complement with my flirty dress (see below). I was actually surprised with how moody and movie-like these pictures came out, but I secretly love the drama haha.
Ever since I fell in love with just about every piece from the Dior Cruise 18 collection, I'd been wishing for a western-inspired look to attend their new show, and sure enough, as soon as I spotted this gorgeous crochet maxi dress at the fitting, I knew I had to have it. I adore the earthy Fall colours and tasseled rims, that are so perfect to do a little swirl every now and then. :) To make the look a bit more badass, I added black Dior ankle boots (love how the star sort of hints at a western vibe), a studded structured Dior bag, and lots of statement rings, including one of my favourite pieces from Rokus London.
And then it was ... time to sneak backstage! Yup, this time we had a little catch-up with one of my favourite creative minds in the fashion industry, the Belgian head of Dior Beauty, Peter Philips. He's such an amazing & humble person, and personally responsible for the creation of my favourite Rouge Dior lipstick shades (that's a big deal! :)). I honestly don't know how he always stays so calm in all the backstage chaos, but I guess that's what makes him such a champion. ;) I so adored the look he came up with for the Dior SS18 show, featuring dramatic lashes and contrasting nude lips. It's such a cool interpretation of the classic French beauty look, and a nice change from the typical French red lips.
Show time! As tradition wants it, the show was held at the iconic Musée Rodin, but there was nothing traditional about the way Maria Grazie Chiuri transformed the location. Inspired by the rebellious artist Niki de Saint Phalle, the Dior head designer created a mirrored cave-like venue that was the perfect backdrop for a surprisingly colourful & badass collection, that I loved, loved, loved. Dior's signature tule dresses were toughened up in the most original ways possible, by pairing them with silver lace-up boots and over-the-knee striped socks, a sexy leather finish, striped shorts, choker necklaces, and ... neon dinosaurs! It seems hard to pull off, but if the cut, material, and finish are so perfect, it turns out anything goes. :) I just love it when designers make a powerful collection by using experimental colours and fabrics, because that to me is what true luxury is all about.
Thanks so much for having me, Dior! Can't wait to see what you have in store for us next time! :)
