With the hectic life I'm living, people are always surprised to find out how much I'm actually into family traditions. I come from a warm family that has taught me about the value of spending enough quality time with your loved ones, and being away from my family is truthfully one of the most challenging things for me. That's why I had been looking forward to spending our first Holidays as a family of 3 since forever, and rest assure I'll be going all the way! :) First on my list was finding the perfect Holiday gifts for everyone who's dear to my heart, including our little snow angel of course. Tracking down cute prezzies for a little baby can be tougher than you'd expect, especially since most of the toys out there are still hysterically ugly. :) So if you're in the same boat, trying to create the perfect Christmas stocking for your baby, here are my simple tips to get you there!
1 / GO PASTEL
I don't know about you, but my biggest pet peeve when it comes to children's toys are those horrible fluorescent colours. They may stimulate your little one's observatory skills, but they can be a real eye sore, ruining the interior design you assembled so carefully pre-baby. :) But here's the good news: there's actually absolutely no need to stock up on those icky colours, since pastels are there to save you: they're just as admirable for little eyes as their super bright colleagues, but endlessly more appealing to have laying around the house.
2 / THINK AHEAD
Even before Gabriel was born, we wanted to commit to keeping his toy supply pretty limited (as I already briefly discussed here). I'm a firm believer of the fact that kids don't need a ton of stuff to entertain themselves, as proven by the fact that usually the most random things are the most successful ones. So when you do buy some fun things for your mini, opting for investment pieces that he'll be able to enjoy for a long time are your best bet! And o yeah, this also includes going with a super cute Christmas stocking that you can use for years and years to come ('cause family traditions, remember? ;)).
3 / SOMETHING FOR MAMA TOO
This actually builds on point 1, but takes it a little further: the best gift for your baby is of course spending time with him, so interactive toys are the most cherished ones by both. A book that you can include into your sweet evening ritual, a sipping cup that you'll learn him how to drink like a grown-up, a little boat that will make bath time so much more fun for both of you - because the best memories are the ones you share, right?
4 / VARIETY, PLEASE
I like the idea of adding pieces to your baby's Christmas stocking that combine practicality and play, and cover a broader range of activities: from bath toys and books to interior pieces that will look cute in the baby room and feeding accessories - there's so much more to make your baby happy with than stuffed animals. And it's so much fun to pick them out! :)
