I've always been a bit difficult when it comes to hotels. They can feel so stuffy & impersonal, don't you think? If they're particularly awful, they can even be a real downer for your entire trip. And now that we're traveling plus one, it's even more important to have understanding & thoughtful hosts wherever we go. :) So I was absolutely thrilled to discover this new a-ma-zing home away from home during our most recent Winter getaway: the Soho House Barcelona. A little recap of this must-stay hotspot's main perks below!
LOCATION / The hotel is located in Barcelona's gothic quarter, facing the beautiful palm tree-lined Port Vell marina. I loved our bubbly neighbourhood that livened up our many mandatory balcony nights (#momlife :)).
VIBE / It may be a bit hard to explain, but for me the Soho House Barcelona really captured that typical old school Spanish vibe - a delicious mix of laid-back relaxation with a sultry touch. Behind the pink façade there was a grand interior with a chic industrial feel, including exposed brick walls, warm woorden floors, and bold lighting details. I really loved the velvet (pink!) furniture that was spread throughout, and gave the place a subtle boudoir feel.
FOOD & MUST-ORDERS / Big surprise: I was particularly looking forward to the breakfast menu, and was super excited to find a yummy selection of all of my favourite things: from avocado toast with poached eggs to quinoa muesli, açaí bowls and delicious smoothies - it was all there, and equally glorious. Marcio also tried the torrada pa amb tomàquet, or a toast with ham & a fried egg, and it became one of our favourite local must-orders!
MAIN PERKS / Though it was under renovation during our stay (boohoo!), the Soho House Barcelona has a stunning rooftop with a tempting pool, overlooking the colourful rooftops of Barcelona. Other than that, the spa (that is based on a traditional Spanish pharmacy) is definitely a must-try! They offer a great range of private & group treatments, with food & drinks on request, and using the natural & sensitive skin-proof Cowshed products.
Have you been to Barcelona recently? Any other places that you'd recommend as a home away from home? :)
