You guys, I can't believe I'm the mama of a 1-year-old!! Our boy turned one on May 31 and we celebrated twice haha. We took him on a little trip to sunny Positano and then had a party with our sweet friends & family at home. I have the BEST memories (and pictures! :)) of celebrating my bday as a mini, with the cutest balloons and loooots of cake, so we really wanted to recreate this for our bebezinho Gabriel. I'm a big believer of simple stress-free bday parties: just lots of balloons, glitter, food, and the people you love the most - that's all it takes!
Now let's talk about the cake. :) The only thing I really had to have for my boy's 1st bday party was a surprise rainbow cake! I've been obsessed with them since the moment they appeared and I was so PSYCHED when the maxi and mini rainbow cakes from Barraf Cakery arrived on the big day. And Gabriel couldn't believe his eyes either, dunking his little hands into the cake, not knowing what colour to grab first. It even distracted him from pulling off his party hat for 60 seconds!
I know it's such a cliché but I really can't believe how time flew by! I still remember the day he was born like it was yesterday. The nurses in the hospital called him the asparagus because he was so lean & tall! :) He looks so tiny when I look back at the pictures though. Ever since he was a newborn he loooved to kick his arms & legs around. He's honestly the most active baby you'll ever meet, and has so much passion in everything he does! Whether it's crying, laughing, or crawling around at lightning speed - he all does it with the most dedication. I always say it must be his 50% Brazilian side, and I love it as much as I love his papa!
We wanted to make him a little world traveler before he was even born, and I'm so happy we were able to make that happen this past year. He took his first trip to Paris at only 3.5 months old, where we shot one of my fave pics ever in front of the Eiffel Tower! We went to beautiful Barcelona for a sunny getaway after that and celebrated our first X-mas together, including a matching pj's moment and his first Santa lap pics in Paris! Then we were off to beautiful Marrakech to spot his first palm trees and after another trip to Paris we took his most exciting trip yet, to Tokyo! We were pretty nervous about the long flight and jetlag, but he handled it like a champ (these are my tips on how to travel with a mini!). We finished his first year of travel in iconic Positano, where we celebrated his 1st birthday with a little party crown and popsicles on the beach (more on our Positano adventures soon!). And guess what? Very soon he'll be going to his papa's hometown in Brazil! I'm too excited for that. :) Happy 1st birthday our bebezinho Gabriel! We love you so much!!
How did you celebrate your mini's 1st birthday? I'd love to hear! :)
