Fact: I'm not a light traveler. No matter how appealing and relaxed it sounds to arrive at the airport with a normal amount of suitcases, exclusively containing carefully selected items that make sense (my favorite pair of sneakers to run around in: YES - 15 different shades of sparkly eye shadow 'cause ya never know: NO), I just cannot. However, I'm kind of proud to say that after years of practically living out of a suitcase, I have been able to figure out a concise list of my carry-on essentials, that make scary plane rides and long layovers so much more comfortable. So while my boyfriend is bravely lugging our truckload of suitcases full of useless stuff, at least I know I'll be able to soothen his pain later on with some pretty awesome snacks. It's all give and take, right? XO Sofie

The only thing worse than dealing with a lost luggage situation is having to deal with it without feeling (and looking) your best. So I always have a small pouch in my carry-ons, with mini versions of my most cherished beauty products.

Estée Lauder 'Stress Relief' Eye Mask: This 10-minute treatment, with aloe vera and cucumber pads to put on your undereye area, is everything. It's more subtle than a complete face mask (which can be too messy on a plane), but will still have you arrive looking fresh and (sort of) rested.

Neutrogena 'Makeup Remover' Cleansing Towelettes: I usually don't put on any make-up when flying, but if I need some extra cleansing, these face wipes for sensitive skin do a really great job.

Kiehl's 'Midnight Recovery Concentrate' Facial Oil: It's common knowledge that the stuffed air on a plane tends to dry out your skin, so even if it's not a long flight, I'll still apply this delicious botanical oil all over my face to keep my skin fully hydrated.

Embryolisse 'Lait-Crème Concentré' Miracle Cream: Multitasking products are the best, especially if you're trying to assemble a manageable carry-on, and this one is a really good one, simultaneously functioning as a primer, moisturizer, and make-up remover.

Chanel 'Coco Mademoiselle' Touche de Parfum: My biggest pet peeve on a plane is smelly people, so I always make sure to have a travel size version of my favorite perfume with me. This one's particularly awesome, since the brush allows you to apply the fragrance without spraying your entire surroundings (although you might want to :)).

Guerlain 'Super Lips' Lip Balm: Subtle lip balm that lights up my face, even when I don't have any make-up on.

La Mer 'Protecting Fluid' SPF 50: This totally comes in handy when your destination is a lot sunnier than your home base!

I always put my tech stuff - camera, headphones, cables, USB sticks, and chargers - in a separate bag. It's super boring, but I swear my heart used to stop whenever I couldn't find one of these items floating around in my carry-ons. So now I just put everything in 1 bag (so that I can straight up die if I lose the whole thing, haha). Following the same reasoning, I carry my passport in a fluo pink purse so I can spot it easily whenever I need it.

As I'm perpetually cold on a plane I always make sure I have some super warm pieces with me: a cosy pair of cashmere socks and my favorite chunky knit (that I use as a blanket or a pillow). I also always put some extra underwear in my carry-ons, just in case.

Super essential for me, because I really really don't like plane food. So I'll always take a reusable water bottle with me, and some nourishing power food, such as date bars, quinoa granola with nuts, or fresh fruit.
